ZELEZNOBRODSKO is geographically not a big region but in term of its contribution to the art glassmaking it is world – renowned place. It was not always the case, at the beginning of the 20th century there were mainly small producers who focused on bijouterie. When in this period first producers of art glass appeared they have realized that there was a luck of the glass specialists. As a consequence in the year 1920 an Arts and Crafts School was established in Zelezny Brod and this excellently equipped institute (first in Bohemia) attracted young , ambicious and skillful teachers.
The glass art in Zelezny Brod in contradistinction to the German glass centres in Kamenicky Senov and Novy Bor had the advantage that was not stigmatized by a long tradition and together with the art sensation of young generation enabled a creation of valuable products typical for region Zeleznobrodsko.Unmistakable was especially the art concept with modern elements influenced by functionalism in comparison with glass centres in Kamenicky Senov and Novy Bor which tended more to the style ART DECO.
There were fascinating glass masterpieces made in Zelezny Brod in the first part of the 20th century especially in the period between 1920 – 1960. The representatives of the company Detesk s.r.o. decided to collect them in order to map an important connection between this period and the present development of Zeleznobrodsko region.
The glass collection is possible to divide into the following categories:
author crafts labeled or signed by the artists from Zeleznobrodsko region
masterpieces with motives which have some connection with the town Zelezny Brod or its surroundings
